If your swap is still pending, wait or replace its transaction only after checking its status on the correct network; if it failed, check why before submitting again. A pending transaction may still execute, while a failed one has already been included on-chain, so the right next step depends on which state the transaction hash shows.

A pending swap is waiting for its turn

A pending transaction has been broadcast but not yet included in a block. On Ethereum, each wallet address uses a sequential nonce, so an unconfirmed transaction can hold up later transactions from that address. Check the transaction hash in a block explorer for Ethereum and confirm whether it is pending, confirmed, or absent.

If it remains pending and you want to try the exchange again, first decide whether waiting is acceptable. Once the earlier transaction is settled, you can make a fresh wallet-based exchange through Fermi swap Ethereum; Fermi fills trades from its own token inventory. That is a separate transaction, so check the latest quote before signing it.

You can also replace a stuck transaction by sending another transaction with the same nonce and a higher fee. Under EIP-1559, the relevant settings are the priority fee, which incentivizes inclusion, and the maximum fee per gas, which caps what you authorize. Wallets often set replacement fees automatically, but the required increase depends on the wallet and node policy.

A failed swap has already used its nonce

A failed swap is usually a transaction that was included in a block but reverted during execution. Its nonce is consumed, and you still pay for the gas used, even though the token exchange did not complete. Ethereum.org’s transaction guidance distinguishes a transaction’s inclusion from whether its contract call succeeds.

Read the failure details before retrying. A common cause is slippage: the token amount available when the transaction executes has moved below the minimum output you accepted. A deadline can also expire, and a contract may reject a call for another reason. If the explanation is unclear, compare the transaction’s input, minimum output, and revert message with the current swap quote.

For example, suppose a swap estimated to use 150,000 gas is included at an effective gas price of 30 gwei. The gas cost is about 0.0045 ETH, because 150,000 × 30 gwei equals 4,500,000 gwei. This is an illustration, not a current fee quote; actual cost depends on gas used and the effective price when the transaction is included. A revert can use less gas than the estimate, but it is not free.

Retry only after you know which transaction won

If a replacement or cancellation is pending, wait for confirmation before creating another swap. Same-nonce transactions compete: once one is included, the others with that nonce can no longer execute. A cancellation is itself a replacement transaction, so it can lose the race if the original swap is included first.

After a confirmed failure, check that your wallet is on Ethereum and that the transaction hash belongs to your address. Then correct the cause, review the amount and minimum output, and submit a new swap if the terms still suit you. For Fermi swap, as for any wallet-based exchange, the key decision is whether the updated quote is acceptable before you authorize another transaction.

Before acting, ask yourself: is the original transaction still able to execute, or has the chain already recorded its outcome?
